Learning how to overcome fear is one of the most cathartic experiences in your life that will continue to keep giving, be it the energy towards your goal, or unconditional love and gratitude.
Step 1: Don’t hide from fear. Convert it from an excuse for not doing something into an action. Acknowledge that you have unfinished business and that the fear has stopped you from going after its completion. Read the signals, understand what your gut and your brain are trying to communicate with you.
Step 2: Turn your gaze inwards. Ignore the eyes of society, shut out the saboteur’s voice, and think about why and how you are so fearful. Many-a-time you will find that the hype around the fear is much more than the feeling itself, and due it constantly prancing around like a big bully, you have allowed it to snowball out of proportion.
Step 3: Sit with yourself, and channel your thoughts towards positive and actionable thinking. If you are not happy on the inside, you are more prone to ‘vent’ about your circumstances than really address them head-on. No one can achieve happiness for us, except for ourselves. The work starts there.
Step 4: Don’t drift towards circumstantial evidence. Just because you’re alone in a jungle, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s unsafe. Fear has a talent that we should actually learn from: it stems from nothing and convinces us that there’s really something to be scared about. So, do your research, educate yourself, search every nook and cranny to beat out that fear that’s getting you down for no reason.
Step 5: Surround yourself with success. The ‘Law of Attraction’ comes into play here but not necessarily by relying on people or outwardly things. First keep the consistency alive in your mind. Believe that you have to succeed, substitute ‘should’ and ‘could’ with ‘must-do’, ‘must-deliver’, ‘must-accomplish’. Hold your mind, your body and your soul in high regard and give it what it deserves, what you deserve. And you certainly don’t deserve to be in fear. If you stay focused, eventually you will discover people who have the same mindset and this shared energy will keep spurring you on, because we are one with the universe and its energies.
Step 6: Find power and vision in your vulnerability. Experiencing a hardship or going through a tough circumstance is a tough but incredible teacher. It teaches you that hiding away is not the fuel your purpose needs. Apply your vulnerability to your future and paint your vision accordingly. Which brings me to the final step….
Step 7: Accept Failure. Failure is a gateway to success, which is why every successful person has faced it in their lives. It is a direction of what not to do. It is a teacher, one that is far better than riding on a high constantly just like pain. When you can accept that this will happen to you, and that you need to move on from it with better resolutions, you are already less afraid.
